At 4 PM on September 6th, 2014 Tree Top opened the gates to their Selah, Washington Campus for the 5th Annual Tree Top Skewered Apple Barbecue Championship. National competitors took on local barbecue masters and the general public got some great entertainment. The event ran until 11 PM Saturday night and then on Sunday it ran from 10:30 AM to 6 PM.
Over the weekend they had a lot of fun things. There was a wine and beer garden near the stage. Food vendors offered a variety of BBQ and other foods. All About Fun had inflatables there for the children. There was live music, a parade, Hog Callin’ Hoedown and apple pie eating contest.
Boy Scout Troop 275 helped people cross the street by being crossing guards. There were tractor pulled wagons transporting people to and from the event parking areas.
Wine Country Q won the Grand Championship for $10,000 and also their Golden Ticket, entry fee and $1000 travel to the World Food Cup in Las Vegas in November, to be aired on A&E. 2nd place was Slow Porkin’, 3rd place was Drummin Up BBQ, 4th place was Lake House BBQ, and 5th place was Sugar’s BBQ. Congratulations to all the competitors.
