Americanism: A Call to Action

On Saturday, May 23rd 2020, we went to the Yakima Speedway for “Americanism: A Call to Action” to support our American Freedoms. There were many great speakers and many booths. It was a great time.

We were going to sell food during the event. Our Yakima County Health Temporary Food Permit that was issued earlier in the week was pulled around 6 PM the night before. Of course after we had bought products to sell. We were told the event might be a large number of people there and Governor Inslee has not gave permission to have big gatherings. We were told if we worked this event, that we were in jeopardy of ever getting a food permit again. The Yakima County Health Department said they would return our permit fees. We still have to eat the cost of the Food Truck’s insurance we put on for that week and all the food we did not get to sell.

We have been a food vendor for over five years and do by the food vendor rules. Since the commissary kitchen we were using was sold, we have to get temporary permits until we find another commissary kitchen to get a annual permit. That is why we got a Yakima County Health Temporary Food Permit to sell food at this event. Governor Inslee has not made a rule against us serving take out. It is legal for us to set up where we were going to vend at anytime with the owners permission as long as we have a permit. Just like any other business location around. There is no law against us serving Take-Out to the public.
